"The heart is the only book worth reading."-Ajahn Chah, Thai Forest Meditation Master
Known to her clients as the Heartful Healer, Nina Fields (Khema) is an established Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC), Parent Consultant, Intuitive Healer, Mindfulness Guide, Pilates Teacher, and loving Mother to two heartful children. She was given the Buddhist Pali Name, ‘Khema’, by her teacher in 2015. The name ‘Khema’ means ‘secure, well-composed, settled’. After facing many trials and difficult transitions in her own life, this name guides her to a place of inner well-being and refuge amidst all the inevitable uncertainties of life. Her name is a reminder that each of us can feel “secure, well-composed and settled” even amidst the most trying and difficult periods of our lives.
Nina has over twenty years of experience helping people break through their inner barriers to find clarity and well-being. She holds a BA in Psychology and is a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC), accredited with the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada. She is also a certified Parent Consultant and Course Facilitator for the Neufeld Institute and has decades of experience working with at-risk youth. Currently working as a Primary Therapist at the Deepak Chopra Addiction and Wellness Centre in Paradise Valley, B.C., Nina skillfully guides her clients through critical transitions in their lives, including recovery from addiction, divorce, separation, loss and the many manifestations of trauma and anxiety. Specializing in relational-based therapy and mindful parenting, Nina also has a thriving private practice, offering one-on-one counselling sessions online, in Squamish, the Comox Valley and in the Greater Vancouver Area of British Columbia.
As a caring and gifted Intuitive Healer, Nina helps unlock, decipher and translate messages that are being sent to her clients by their own intuitive guides and their own deeper minds. As if reading a story, she receives images and information like flash cards – timely messages that provide clarity and resolution on the issues that matter most in the moment. By providing a pure channel for these messages to come through, she is able to guide her clients to a place of deep healing and transformation. Nina also understands the importance of working with both body and mind in the heartful healing process. She is an experienced and certified Pilates Teacher (equipment and mat) and also enjoys the healing power of yoga practice. An avid nature-lover, she delights in hiking and meditating in the quietude of wilderness.
As a long-term Theravada Buddhist Practitioner, Nina has deep insight into the inner workings of the mind and our potential to cultivate greater peace, joy, wisdom and compassion for ourselves and others. She considers herself a life-long student of the Dhamma and has completed advanced training as a lay practitioner (upāsikā) under the tutelage of Ajahn Sona at Birken Forest Buddhist Monastery. Nina also leads Buddhist Mindfulness/Heartfulness Workshops for adults and teens throughout British Columbia.
